RIPPEL 90.5 FM – THE PERMANENT BROADCAST LICENSE

BACKGROUND

• Radio Rippel 90.5FM started broadcasting on 1 August 1995.
• On the 30 September 2003, 16 community radio stations in Gauteng heard that ICASA(Independent Communications Authority of S.A.had refused their permanent broadcast licenses
• Rippel 90.5’s license was awarded 8 times previously.
• 90.5 was informed to cease broadcasting at midnight on 30 June 2004.

COURT INTERDICT

• Radio Rippel 90.5’s court interdict was awarded in the Pretoria High Court on 24 June 2004
• 90.5 FM can continue broadcasting until the final court cases with ICASA are settled.

2005 – 2006

• Since June 2004, various court documents and correspondence were sent between our lawyers Rooth and Wessels and ICASA’s attorneys.
• R200 000.00 (+ $35 000.00) legal fees was already incurred by 90.5 FM
